Method

1.Combine dates in bowl with apricots, coconut and brandy, stand overnight.
2.Grease a 15cm x 25cm loaf pan, line base with paper; grease paper.
3.Add sugar, chopped butter and soda to date mixture, stir in boiling water; cool 10 minutes. Stir in eggs, then sifted dry ingredients. Pour into prepared pan. Bake in moderate oven for about 50 minutes. Stand 5 minutes before turning on to wire rack to cool.
