Simple gravy recipe

Ingredients

Method

1.Heat pan juices or oil in pan over a high heat. Stir in flour. Cook, stirring constantly, until browned.
2.Gradually blend in water or stock and season to taste. Bring to the boil, stirring. Reduce heat and simmer 3 minutes.

Add chopped herbs at the end of cooking, if desired. For a gravy variation: Saute a chopped onion or some sliced mushrooms in the pan juices before adding the flour and stock.
