Ingredients

Method

1.Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan forced). Line a large baking tray with baking paper.
2.Using an electric mixer, beat 180g of the butter and 1/3 cup of the icing sugar in a bowl until light and creamy. Add milk, beat until combined. Sift flour and custard powder over mixture, stir until well combined.
3.Roll mixture into 24 balls. Place balls on prepared tray, 3cm apart, and flatten slightly. Bake for 15 minutes or until just golden. Cool on tray for 5 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
4.Sandwich biscuits together with jam. Sift remaining icing sugar into a bowl. Combine remaining butter and 3 teaspoons boiling water. Pour over icing sugar and mix until smooth. Tint with food colouring. Spread icing over tops of kisses. Set. Serve.

Kisses can be made up to 4 days ahead. Store in an airtight container. You can make mini kisses, if preferred. Cooking time will vary. Use your favourite jam.
