Method
1.Preheat oven to moderate, 180°C. Place a shallow, 5-cup baking dish inside a large baking pan.
2.In a medium bowl, whisk milk, eggs, cream, sugar and vanilla together.
3.Layer brioche quarters, blueberries and plums into dish. Gradually strain egg mixture over to cover. Set aside for 5 minutes to allow mixture to soak through. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
4.Pour boiling water into roasting pan to come halfway up the side of dish. Bake for 40-45 minutes until custard is just set. Serve warm or cold, dusted with icing sugar.
Brioche can be replaced with thick cafe-style slices of fruit loaf, if preferred.
