1.Preheat oven to 220°C (200°C fan-forced). Lightly grease a scone tray.
2.Sift flour into a large bowl. Add butter to bowl. Rub in lightly, using fingertips. Stir in chocolate and sugar. Make a well in the centre.
3.In a jug, dissolve coffee in hot water. Mix in water and milk. Pour in liquid, all at once, to flour mixture. Using a bread and butter knife, mix quickly to a soft, sticky dough. Do not over-mix.
4.Turn onto a lightly floured surface. Knead lightly. Press or roll out to form a 15 x 25cm rectangle. Cut into 12 portions.
5.Place close together on prepared tray. Brush with extra milk. Bake 12-15 minutes, until scones sound hollow when tapped. Cool on a wire rack. Serve with cream.
