Which is the smartest choice in fruit juice?
Charlie’s Honest Squeezed Orange as it has the least ingredients and is the only juice tested that is made from fresh oranges, not from concentrate. It has the most amount of vitamin C per 100ml and, although it’s not the lowest in calories or sugar content, sometimes we have to remember that natural is best.
What should we look for in a juice?
It’s a good idea to have a look at how many ingredients are on the list. Less is better. You also want to aim for 10g of sugar or less per 100g.
How often should we be drinking fruit juice?
Drinking fruit juice is a great way to source our daily vitamin C. However, even though all the juices we tested contain vitamin C and some contain other vitamins and minerals, the sugar content still creeps up. It would be better to eat a whole orange instead of drinking juice as you get added fibre that way. In an ideal world we would be squeezing and blending our own juices and keeping the fibre content and pulp to help maintain a healthy gut. It’s best to stick to having fruit juice as a treat, and try to add water to it, especially for kids.
