Method

1.Heat oil in a large saucepan over moderately high heat. Add onion, garlic and mince; cook, stirring with a wooden spoon to break up lumps, for 7-8 minutes or until browned.
2.Add tomato. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes or until sauce thickens, adding peas during the last 5 minutes.
3.Bring milk and 2 cups water to the boil in a large saucepan over high heat. Add polenta in a thin steady stream, stirring constantly until combined. Reduce heat to low. Cook and stir for 5 minutes or until thick. Remove from heat. Stir in butter, pecorino and spinach.
4.Spoon polenta into serving bowls. Top with mince. Serve mince sprinkled with basil.
