Method

1.Preheat oven to 200°C/180°C fan-forced. Grease and line a baking tray with baking paper. Sift flour into a large bowl. Rub in butter to make fine crumbs.
2.Make a well in centre; add milk. Using a round-bladed knife, cut through mixture until it forms a soft dough, adding 1-2 tablespoons more milk if needed. Turn out dough onto a lightly-floured surface. Knead briefly until smooth. Roll out to a 36 x 24cm rectangle. Spread Vegemite over dough: sprinkle with cheese (leaving a 3cm border along the 2 long edges).
3.Starting from a long edge, roll up dough to shape into a log. Using a sharp serrated knife, cut log into 12 slices. Place side by side on prepared tray.
4.Bake for 20 minutes or until golden and cooked. Serve warm.

Makes 12 When cutting scrolls, don’t press down too firmly as you will distort the shape. If necessary, gently reshape when transferring to tray.
