Giant freckle cookies

This tried and tested giant freckle cookie recipe is the perfect way to sweeten any morning or afternoon tea. Studded with smarties, these big cookies are sure to be welcomed by small hands

1.Preheat oven to moderate, 180°C. Lightly grease and line 2 oven trays with baking paper.
2.In a large bowl, beat softened butter and caster sugar together until creamy. Beat in sweetened condensed milk. Add eggs and vanilla essence, beating well. Fold self-raising flour into butter mixture until well combined. Wrap in cling film. Chill for 30 minutes.
3.Divide dough into 4. Roll out each piece between 2 sheets of baking paper to 1cm thickness. Chill in freezer for 10 minutes.
4.Cut out 9cm rounds from dough. Using Smarties, press onto each cookie to cover. Working in 3 batches, transfer to oven trays, placing 6cm apart to allow for spreading. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Cool on tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
