1.Preheat oven to 180°C or 160°C fan. Cook penne in a saucepan of boiling, salted water according to packet directions. Drain, reserving 1 cup of cooking water.
2.Meanwhile, heat oil in a saucepan on medium. Cook onion for 3 minutes, until soft. Add garlic and bacon and cook for 3 minutes, until bacon is golden. Add pasta sauce with reserved water. Increase heat to high and bring to boil. Reduce heat, add basil and simmer, covered, for 5 minutes.
3.Stir through beans and olives. Toss penne with sauce and 3/4 cup of mozzarella and season well. Pour into a 10-cup ovenproof dish. Sprinkle with remaining mozzarella and bake for 15-20 minutes, until cheese is golden. Serve.
