Pan-fried in a hearty, sweet tomato sauce, these homemade baked beans are perfect served atop a piece of golden, crunchy toast. Top with crispy bacon to create a cafe-style breakfast or brunch at home.
1.Heat oil in a large frying pan over moderate heat. Add bacon. Cook, stirring, 3 minutes, or until crisp. Transfer to a heatproof plate. Chop bacon coarsely.
2.Add onion to pan. Cook, stirring, 3 minutes, or until soft. Add beans, tomato, sauces and sugar. Cook, stirring occasionally, 18-20 minutes, or until mixture thickens slightly. Serve beans on toast. Top with bacon.
You can use any type of canned white beans for this recipe. Try adding a pinch of cayenne pepper for extra spice.
