1.Preheat oven to moderate, 180°C. Lightly grease four 1 1/4-cup ovenproof dishes, or one 5-cup ovenproof dish.
2.In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla.
3.Dissolve coffee in milk. Fold flour into creamed mixture alternately with milk mixture. Stir in chocolate. Spoon among dishes.
4.To make sauce, in a jug, combine all ingredients. Pour an even amount over each pudding.
5.Bake 15-20 minutes (35-40 minutes for large dish), until puffed. Serve hot, with ice- cream or thick cream.
Melt chopped chocolate in a heatproof jug in the microwave on medium (50% power) in 30-second bursts. Stir after every burst, as chocolate can hold its shape and still be melted (causing overheating and burning).
