Three chocolate trees

These festive chocolate trees are ultra easy, take no more than 45 minutes to make and will have your Christmas guests in awe at your kitchen skills (don’t tell them they’re this easy to make).

You can have some fun with them too, by changing up you ingredients to cater to different taste buds. Consider making them sweeter with crumbled wafers, M&Ms, mini marshmallows and chopped fruit.

Ingredients

Method

Step 1

Combine chocolate and kremelta in a large heatproof bowl. Microwave on MEDIUM HIGH (80%) in 30-second increments, stirring, until chocolate is melted. Cool for 10 minutes.

Step 2

Meanwhile, using cookie cutters, trace 7 descending size circles on baking paper a few centimetres apart (9.5cm, 8cm, 6.5cm, 5.5cm, 4cm, 3cm, 2cm). Turn paper over and place on a tray. You will need to draw 4 sets of circles.

Step 3

Combine nuts and ginger in a bowl.

Step 4

Transfer chocolate to a plastic piping bag and snip off the corner. Using the circles as a guide, pipe chocolate inside the circles. Tap tray on the bench to settle the chocolate. Sprinkle circles with nut mixture, refrigerate until set.

Step 5

To assemble, starting with the largest circle, dot the centre with a little melted chocolate. Place next largest circle on top and repeat until all 7 circles are stacked.

Step 6

Just before serving, dust with icing sugar mixture.

Tip:

For a kiddie-friendly version, use white chocolate and smashed candy canes.
