Method

1.Preheat oven to 230°C (210°C fan-forced). Place hash browns, in a single layer, on a greased baking tray. Bake, turning halfway through cooking, for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and hot.
2.Meanwhile, heat oil in a medium saucepan over moderate heat. Add onion and bacon; cook and stir for 5 minutes or until onion is soft and bacon is crisp.
3.Add beans, treacle, mustard, sugar and 1/2 cup water; cook and stir until sugar has dissolved. Bring to the boil; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes or until sauce thickens.
4.Heat a large frying pan over moderate heat. Add sausages; cook and turn for 6 minutes or until browned and cooked. Serve sausages with hash browns, beans and cabbage.

You can use molasses instead of treacle. Make ahead: Make bean mixture a day ahead; keep, covered, in the fridge.
