This food hack is about to change your life.
Wrap your rock-hard avocado super-tight in tin foil.
Place in the oven at 100°C for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, remove the avocado and check for ‘squishiness’.
If it doesn’t seem soft enough, pop it back in the oven and check on it every five to 10 minutes until you’re satisfied it’s achieved the right amount of softness. Depending on how unripe it was to begin with, this could take up to an hour.
Remove the tin foil and refrigerate the avocado until it cools.
Voila! Your avocado is ready to enjoy.
Explanation: Avocados naturally produce ethylene gas (the same as bananas) which causes the fruit to ripen. Typically, this gas is released slowly but when the avocado is wrapped in tin foil and baked, the gas surrounds it and speeds up the ripening process.
You’ll never have to go avocado-free again!
