Chocolate weetbix slice

An absolute Kiwi classic, this chocolate weetbix slice will always be a hit. You can swap out the weetbix for other cereals you have in the cupboard. This is an easy recipe to follow, so a good one to get the kids to help with!

Preheat oven to 180°C/160°C fan forced. Grease and line a 30 x 20cm (base measurement) slice pan with baking paper. extending paper at long sides for handles.

Combine cereal, flour, sugar, coconut, sultanas and cocoa powder in a bowl. Add butter and egg; mix until well combined. Using hands, press evenly into prepared pan. Bake for 25 minutes or until lightly browned and cooked.

3.

Sift icing sugar and extra cocoa powder into a bowl. Add extra butter and the milk; stir until combined. Spread icing over hot slice, then sprinkle with extra coconut. Cool in pan. Cut into bars. Serve.

Use any flaky cereal

Note
Do I have to use weetbix in this slice recipe?

Weetbix is the classic option for this recipe but any cereal you have would work – cornflakes and rice bubbles are also a great option!

Do I need to use sultanas in this recipe?

Sometimes a polarising option, we love them but you could absolutely omit from the recipe
