Steak sandwich

Hearty and scrumptious steak sandwiches with toasted ciabatta perfect for a Saturday night in. Serve with caramelised onions, fried egg, beetroot, tasty cheese and tomato sauce.

Ingredients

Method

1.Preheat a lightly oiled barbecue plate on high.
2.Cook onion for 8-10 minutes, until golden and tender. Remove from heat. Cover to keep warm. Fry eggs on same oiled flat plate, until just set. Set aside.
3.Meanwhile, cook steaks for 1-2 minutes, each side, until cooked to taste. Toast bread on the barbecue or in a toaster.
4.Spread four slices of bread with sauce. Top with cheese, tomato, beetroot. steak and onion, egg and lettuce. Top with remaining bread slice.

Steaks can be replaced with a chicken breast schnitzel, or with a large field mushroom to make a vegetarian meal.
