Method
Toffee popcorn sticks & poison fruit skewers
1.Line a large bowl and an oven tray with baking paper.
2.Prepare popcorn following packet instructions. Transfer to a bowl.
3.In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water. Stir over low heat, without boiling, until sugar dissolves. Increase heat to medium and bring to the boil. Reduce to low and simmer without stirring, 6-8 minutes, until just beginning to turn golden.
4.Pour half toffee evenly over popcorn. Sprinkle over nuts. Toss quickly with a large metal spoon to coat. Working quickly, mould popcorn into 6cm balls. Arrange on tray and insert wooden skewers. Allow to cool.
5.Make poison fruit skewers: Insert a skewer into the top of each piece of fruit. Quickly dip piece into remaining hot toffee, allowing excess to drip off. Arrange on tray. Allow to cool.
Use some cherries and dip them in toffee, using their stems for dipping.
