1.Preheat oven to 200°C/180°C fan forced. Grease and line a 26xl6cm (base measurement) slice pan with baking paper, extending paper at long sides for handles.
2.Combine sugar and sifted cocoa powder in a heatproof bowl. Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat. Pour hot butter over sugar mixture; stir to combine. Add eggs, one by one, beating lightly after each addition. Stir in almond meal until combined.
3.Pour mixture into prepared pan; level surface. Bake for 20 minutes or until edges are set and a skewer inserted at centre comes out lightly moist. Cool in pan. Transfer brownie to a chopping board. Sprinkle top with combined extra sugar and extra sifted cocoa powder. Cut into 16 pieces. Serve.
