Introducing sushi donuts, the culinary collision that’s blowing up on Instagram.
After followers went crazy for their poke bowls and sushi burritos, it’s no surprise Californian eatery Project Poke turned their attention to sushi donuts.
To make the ‘grammable snack, sushi rice is shaped into a normal donut mould, piped full of spicy tuna or avocado, then rounded out with more rice and layered with fresh Japanese-inspired toppings.
The ‘donut’ is then served on an edible nori napkin with dipping sauce. Forget chopsticks, this trendy mashup is made to be eaten by hand.
There’s just something about food that’s shaped like another type of food – are we right?
