Must visit: New Zealand’s first Meatstock festival

Vegetarians, look away...

Meatstock is set to hit New Zealand shores for the first time later this month, bringing with it a true blue celebration of barbecue, butchery, beers and beards.

After huge success across the ditch, the meat and music festival is set to fire up Auckland’s ASB Showgrounds on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 February.

The best names in the barbecue game will be heading to the festival to run classes and demonstrations, including BBQ Pitmasters star Moerlando ‘Big Moe’ Cason and Australia celebrity pitmaster and Good Food AU winner Hillbilly Wes.

“I can’t wait for Meatstock NZ! It’s a passionate foodie nation, renowned for producing quality beef and lamb and I look forward to passing on my hot tips to the Kiwi BBQ community,” said Big Moe.

More than 22 teams from across New Zealand will be battling it out at the first ever Meatstock NZ barbecue wars for $8000 in cash and prizes, and more importantly to be crowned the best barbecuers in the Aotearoa.

“It is awesome to see the barbecue movement gaining real traction in New Zealand and Meatstock brings the nations BBQ community together in one big rocking festival. Things are going to get messy!” said Hillbilly Wes.

As well the highly-anticipated barbecue, butcher and barber wars, the festival also hosts a hot line-up of live bands, barbecue-inspired food trucks and craft beer from Liberty Brewing.

With offerings from Miss Moonshines, Morepork BBQ, Dixie Barbecue, Guerilla Grill, Che Lucio BBQ and more, this is a festival you can really sink your teeth into.
