What’s the difference between a chicken stew and a casserole?

It is our understanding that a stew is often done on top of a stove. That way, the heat is applied to the bottom of the dish. However, a casserole is traditionally done in a closed dish inside of an oven. This way, heat surrounds it from all sides.

What are the five components of a casserole?

Traditionally, the five components of most chicken casserole recipes include a protein, a starch, a vegetable, a sauce (or other binding ingredient), and a cheese. Combine them all together and you’ll be away laughing!

What can I have with a chicken casserole?

Almost all chicken casserole recipes pair well with roasted veggies such as carrots, broccoli, zucchini and/or cauliflower.

However, on those days when you’re really looking for comfort food, we understand that vegetables just aren’t quite what you’re after. In these instances, we also love to pair it with mashed potato or veggies roasted to crispiness.

Really, almost anything pairs with chicken, so a chicken casserole can be complimented with whatever you desire. Just have fun with it.
