Bliss balls
Bliss balls are incredibly popular and it’s easy to see why: they’re sweet, they’re healthy, they’re easy to make and can be as simple or as stuffed with superfoods as you like.
Home-made ‘nutella’
Roast, skin and blend hazelnuts to a smooth paste, then process with some vanilla extract; raw cacao powder; soaked, drained and deseeded medjool dates; a pinch of salt, and enough almond milk to help it all blend. You’ll never look back!
Apple crisps
Apple crisps that have been tossed in a little cinnamon (and, if you want to give yourself permission, a little extra sugar) are reminiscent of naughty deep-fried doughnuts – but it’s all a trick of the senses; you’re actually eating fruit. Choose small, sweet apples, core them and then slice thinly. Lay them evenly spaced on a baking paper–lined tray, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Bake at 90°C for about 2 hours, turning once halfway. Cool, then store in a container.
Raw coconut ice
Remember the coconut ice your Grandma used to make? Remember how it had 2 cups of sugar and about 10 litres of sweetened condensed milk in it? Well, those days are over. Here’s Megan May’s gorgeous, gluten-free, sugar-free, red food colouring–free coconut ice recipe.
DIY coconut ice blocks
Blend your favourite seasonal fruit (berries are great in summer) with coconut milk, banana, vanilla and your preferred liquid natural sweetener, such as maple, honey, agave or stevia. Pour into moulds, freeze for several hours and enjoy on a hot day.
