Plum torte

This one is a special recipe from 'Love and Food From Gran's Table' by Natalie Oldfield. Nana Rita's plum torte is complete with a crumbly golden crust and beautifully tender juicy plums.

Ingredients

Method

1.Pre-heat oven to 180°C. Grease a torte pan well and set aside.
2.Cut plums open; drain on paper towels. Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
3.Beat egg yolks lightly; add in with milk and mix well. Sift flour and baking powder in; fold together.
4.Beat egg whites to soft peak; fold in lightly with a knife.
5.Spoon batter into torte pan, place plums on top, cut side down. Sprinkle with almonds.
6.Bake 55–60 minutes. Sprinkle with caster sugar; serve warm with cream or ice cream.
