Ingredients
- 5 cup rolled oats
- 3 cup almonds (skin on), coarsely chopped
- 1 cup sunflower seeds
- 3/4 cup sesame seeds
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 180 gram apple sauce/purée
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 4 tablespoon honey
- 2 tablespoon grapeseed oil
- 1 teaspoon fine salt
Method
- 1Preheat the oven to 150°C. Line 2 rimmed baking trays with baking paper.
- 2In a very large bowl mix together the dry ingredients, excluding the salt.
- 3In a pan, warm the apple sauce or purée, maple syrup, honey, oil and salt together until the mixture gently bubbles. Mix the apple mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring until well combined. Spread the granola mixture evenly onto the lined baking trays.
- 4Bake the granola mixture in the preheated oven for 40-50 minutes. The granola burns easily so remove the trays from the oven every 10 minutes to stir the granola well. Rotate the baking trays each time you replace them in the oven. The granola should be a deep golden brown.
- 5Remove the granola from the oven and set it aside to cool completely. Using the baking paper, carefully lift the granola from the trays and pour it into airtight containers.
