Method

1.Preheat oven to moderate, 180°C. Lightly grease and line a 20 x 30cm slice pan with baking paper.
2.In a small bowl, using an electric mixer, cream butter, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. Gently fold in flour, mixing to a soft dough.
3.Roll 1/2 cup dough into a 2cm-thick log. Wrap tightly in plastic; chill until required. Roll out remaining dough between two pieces of baking paper and line base of pan. trimming to fit.
4.To make filling, combine all ingredients in a small saucepan. Stir over medium heat until well combined. Bring to boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Allow to cool slightly. Spread evenly over base; sprinkle evenly with nuts and chocolate.
5.Unwrap chilled pastry log and trim ends. Slice into 24 even discs. Arrange discs over top of slice.
6.Bake 25-30 minutes, until filling sets and pastry is golden. Cool in pan 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
