Ingredients

Method

1.Rinse beef and place in a large saucepan with onion, sugar, vinegar and cloves. Add enough water to cover.
2.Bring to boil on high heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for 1-1 1/4 hours (allow 40 minutes per 500g) or until a skewer inserted is easily removed.
3.Serve sliced with roast truss tomatoes, pickles and vegetables of choice.

To roast tomatoes, place on a baking tray, drizzle with a little oil and bake in a moderate oven, 180°C, for 15-20 minutes.
