Method

1.Preheat oven to 160°C/140°C fan forced. Grease and line a 30x20cm (base measurement) slice pan with baking paper, extending paper at long sides for handles.
2.Spread bread with butter. Cut each slice into quarters (triangles). Cut each quarter in half to make 8 triangles in total. Arrange bread, overlapping slightly, over base of prepared pan. Whisk eggs, milk and sugar in a jug. Pour over bread. Sprinkle with chocolate. Stand for 10 minutes.
3.Bake for 20 minutes or until just set at centre. Cool completely in pan (slice will firm slightly). Cut to serve.

This recipe is perfect for using up stale bread.
