Method

1.Preheat barbecue plate (or large frying pan) on medium. Brush with oil. Cook mushrooms and onion 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender and golden. Stir in vinegar and sugar and cook a further 1 minute.
2.Meanwhile, cook sausages on hot barbecue grill 10-12 minutes, turning, until cooked through.
3.Place buns cut-side down on grill 1-2 minutes, until lightly toasted.
4.Spread buns with relish. Top each with tomato slices and lettuce leaves. Add a sausage to each with a dollop of mushroom mixture. Accompany with tomato sauce.

Halve sausages lengthwise to reduce cooking time.
