1.Preheat oven to 180°C. Lightly grease and line an 18 x 28cm slice pan, extending paper 2cm above the edge on the two long sides.
2.In a medium bowl, using an electric mixer, beat eggs and sugar together until pale and fluffy. Add remaining ingredients and beat until well combined.
3.Pour into prepared pan. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until cooked when tested with a skewer. Cool in pan for 5 minutes before transferring, top side down, to a wire rack to cool completely.
4.In a medium bowl, using an electric mixer, beat cream cheese and icing sugar together until smooth. Add zest and beat well.
5.Spread topping over cooled slice base. Scatter with extra zest and chill for 15 minutes before cutting into squares to serve. Store slice in the fridge in an airtight container.
This slice can be flavoured with orange juice and zest instead of lemon. Use almond meal in place of hazelnut meal.
Note
