Method
1.Heat oil in a large, deep frying pan over high heat. Cook shallots for 2 minutes or until browned and crisp. Drain on paper towel. Drain oil from pan.
2.Heat same pan; cook beef for 3 minutes or until browned both sides and cooked as desired. Remove from pan. Cover and stand 5 minutes.
3.To make horseradish mascarpone, beat cream cheese, horseradish and pepper in a small bowl until combined. Stir in mascarpone.
4.Serve beef with horseradish mascarpone and sprinkle with crispy shallots.
If you like, buy fried shallots (homm jiew) instead of making your own. It can be purchased at Asian grocery stores; once opened, fried shallots will keep for months if tightly sealed.
