Method

1.Boil, steam or microwave potato until tender. Drain. Mash potato with butter and milk in a large bowl until smooth. Stir in cream; cover to keep warm.
2.Meanwhile, whisk flour and the water in a small bowl until smooth. Bring sauce and mirin to the boil in small saucepan. Stir in flour mixture and let simmer until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in ginger.
3.Season steaks with japanese pepper and a little salt. Heat an oiled frying pan and cook steaks until done to your liking. Remove from pan. Cover and stand 2 minutes.
4.Divide mashed potato among serving plates. Top with steak and pour over sauce.
