1.Preheat oven to 180°C. Lightly grease and line a baking tray with baking paper.
2.In a saucepan combine water, caster sugar and cinnamon stick. Heat on medium, stirring until sugar dissolves. Boil, without stirring, for 1 minute. Reduce heat and add pears. Place a saucer on top of pears to keep submerged. Simmer 20-25 minutes, until tender. Remove pears and drain well.
3.Boil cooking liquid for 15-20 minutes, until reduced to about 1 cup. Set aside.
4.Cut pastry sheet into four. Place on prepared tray. Fold sides 0.5cm over to form an edge. Place a pear half in centre of each and brush with a little syrup. Bake 10-15 minutes, until golden. Serve with cream, a drizzle of syrup and a sprinkling of toffee macadamias.
