Ingredients

Method

1.Place the egg yolks and sugar into the bowl of an electric mixer and beat until thick and pale, then add the milk and mix until smooth.
2.Transfer the mixture to a heatproof bowl, place over a saucepan of simmering water and stir until thickened, being careful not to overcook the custard or it will curdle. Allow to cool.
3.Place the mascarpone into a bowl, add the custard and mix until smooth.
4.Whip the cream until soft peaks form, then gently fold the cream into the mascarpone mixture, chill until needed.
5.To assemble the tiramisu. Place the coffee into a shallow bowl and dip half the biscuits in, then transfer to a 25cm-diameter trifle bowl.
6.Spread half of the cream mixture over the biscuits and sprinkle with half the chocolate.
7.Make another layer with the remaining ingredients, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
