Method
1.Combine the melted butter, milk and vanilla. Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and cocoa. Add the liquid to the dry ingredients. Mix well until you have a rather thick batter. Spread the butter in the bottom of an ungreased pan (I use a two-litre casserole dish).
2.Sprinkle the brown sugar and cocoa over the sponge batter. Then pour the boiling water over the back of a spoon onto the batter.
3.Place in a 180°C oven for 45 minutes. When cooked, it will have turned into a lovely dark chocolate sponge, drenched with delicious sauce.
