1.Using an electric mixer, beat butter in a bowl until pale and creamy. Add sifted icing sugar, ½ cup at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in milk until combined and creamy. Transfer ½ cup of the icing to a bowl; tint with pink food colouring. Tint remaining icing with yellow food colouring. Transfer ¼ cup of the yellow icing to a separate bowl; tint with more yellow colouring to make it darker.
2.Spread a little light yellow icing over the base of the long side of one cake, then stand it upright on a cake board. Spread some of the light yellow icing on the uncut side and base of the long side of remaining cake. Place on cake board against first cake. Lightly press cakes together to form handbag shape. Spread a thin layer of light yellow icing over top and sides of cake. Freeze cake for 30 minutes or until icing is firm.
3.Use a toothpick or skewer to make a V shape on the front top half of the cake to form an outline for handbag flap. Spread pink icing inside triangle and top of cake to form handbag flap. Spread remaining light yellow icing over remaining cake. Place white flowers and candy-coated fruit chews on hand bag. Place sour rope to make a handle. Spoon dark yellow icing into a piping bag fitted with a small plain nozzle. Decorate cake and place cachous, using the photo as a guide.

Icing secret: Before icing, freeze cakes for 30 minutes to stop crumbs mixing with icing. No cake board? Cover a large chopping board with foil.
