Method
1.Preheat oven to 180ºC. Grease 20cm x 30cm rectangular pan; line base and long sides with baking paper, extending paper 5cm over sides.
2.In a medium bowl, beat butter and sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy; beat in eggs until combined. Stir in ground almonds and sifted flour; spread mixture into pan. Top with cherries, pressing down gently; sprinkle with flaked almonds. Bake about 30 minutes. Cool slice in pan.
3.Dust slice with sifted icing sugar before cutting. Serve warm or at room temperature.
