Ingredients

Method

1.Grease and line a 30 x 20cm (base measurement) slice pan with baking paper, extending paper at the long sides for handles.
2.Place butter, biscuits and chocolate in a saucepan over moderate heat. Cook, stirring, 3 minutes or until chocolate has melted (there’ll be pieces of biscuit in mixture). Stand 15 minutes to cool.
3.Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan-forced). Whisk sugar and egg into chocolate mixture, then sifted flours. Fold in 2/3 of the walnuts. Pour mixture into prepared pan. Level surface. Sprinkle with remaining walnuts.
4.Bake 25 minutes, or until a skewer inserted at centre comes out with crumbs clinging. Cool 10 minutes in pan. Cut into 8 squares. Serve warm, topped with ice-cream.

As an alternative, you could replace walnuts with peanuts or frozen raspberries. If you prefer a gooey centre, fold through chopped, chewy caramel lollies.
