Ingredients
Method
1.Preheat oven to hot, 200°C (180°C fan-forced). Line 2 baking trays with baking paper.
2.Heat oil in large frying pan over moderate heat. Add onion; cook, stirring, 3 minutes, or until just soft. Add mince; cook, stirring with a wooden spoon to break up lumps, 5 minutes, or until browned.
3.Add mushroom and pasta sauce. Reduce heat to moderately low; cook, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes, or until thickened slightly. Transfer to a heatproof bowl to cool, stirring occasionally to release heat.
4.Using a plate or bowl as a guide, cut pastry into 4 x 20cm rounds.
5.Spread a quarter of filling on each pastry round. Bring two facing sides of pastry together over filling; pinch together at top to seal.
6.Place pasties on prepared trays. Brush with egg, then sprinkle with sesame seeds; bake 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
7.Steam kumara 10 minutes, or until tender. Transfer to a warm bowl. Mash, then beat in milk; season.
8.Serve pasties with kumara mash and broccoli.
Cool beef mixture before assembling pasties. Chill in the fridge to speed up the process if you like. Kumara is orange sweet potato.
