Near Matakana, north of Auckland, an art park more than 12 years in the making is ready to inspire. Sculptureum sprawls over 10 hectares with three art-filled gardens, six galleries, a vineyard, function centre and Rothko Restaurant.

The complex includes figurative works by the likes of Cézanne and Monet, as well as giant animal sculptures, real-life animals and the jewel of the collection, a chandelier by American artist Dale Chihuly – the most substantial work of glass art on public display in Australasia.

The gardens and galleries are open from Thursday to Monday and tickets can be purchased online.
